LANCE... Lessons For Our Community

As I watch Lance Armstrong's magnificent 6th Tour de France win... I can't help thinking about the similarities between Lance's magnificent achievements on his bike and the Lonehill Residents Association's (LRA) achievements in Lonehill.

Lance carries the hopes of most American's as he wears the YELLOW jersey of 'leadership' within the US Postal team (now bought out by Disvovery Channel)... as does the LRA carry the hopes of most Lonehill residents as the LRA chairperson dons the mantle of 'leadership' within a team of executive directors.

It is interesting to note, that Lance's team members all SUBORDINATE their personal ambitions TOTALLY to the purpose of leading the YELLOW jersey to the winner's podium in Paris. They ensure that they take their turns to lead in the main pelaton, take on all the challenges, take on the competition, break down the headwinds... and pull the YELLOW jersey along in their slipstream for almost 99% of the entire race.

Those in the know estimate that Lance conserves up to 30% of his energy in the slipstream compared to those in his team having to set the pace and take the lead. Without his quality team around him there is just no way that Lance would win these races on his own.

This is just what the individual directors on the LRA are required to do... to subordinate their personal ambitions to take the lead at the most challenging of times, often to sacrifice themselves and their personal opinions for the team objective, to outpace the opposition, and to pull the LRA (representing Lonehill Residents) along in their slipstream and ensure that the LRA achieves it's objectives for the Lonehill community.

Often Lance leaves commentators scratching their heads as he concedes individual legs on the Tour de France to keep his strength intact to achieve the overall strategy of winning the race. What Lance does not do is allow his competition to set his strategy. He sets his strategy and he sticks to it.Lance does not worry about the glory-boy, lying second-last in the overall race, who races to an 11-minute lead on a single leg. He knows that the glory-boy may win the day... but the YELLOW jersey WINS the race.

As does the LRA leave some of their critics scratching their heads as they concede to the completion of lesser, seemingly mundane projects in order to keep intact their overall long-term strategy of achieving the Lonehill vision. After 4 years of being on the LRA team, I have seen those who fit the profile needed for the LRA to achieve what Lance Armstrong has achieved in the US Postal Team.

And, I have seen those who don't.

The LRA is constantly looking for quality team players to subordinate themselves and their personal interests on behalf of Lonehill residents. Do you fit the profile..?

Devastating... Leigh is DEAD

What evil can perpetrate such a crime..? I am disgusted to the core with what makes such individuals do this to Leigh.

I am not the only one so effected... look at the comments on this site:

Kidnapped - An EVIL Crime

Oh boy, I have had my head down in new business developments - see www.innercircleforum.com - but my eyes have been wide open on the potential tragedy playing out for the Matthews family in Fourways, Johannesburg.

On Friday, their 21-year old daughter was kidnapped from a local 'university' campus... and they have not seen her since.

See article: Fourth day of hell for kidnapped Leigh's parents

I heard yesterday that 'kidnapping' is a billion dollar a year 'business' worldwide... which just frightens every bit of calm out of me.

It is just EVIL... and the perpetrators are EVIL. There is nothing more to it than that..! To stoop to this level to extort cash must make for a prime canditate for burning in hell.

Oh boy, I have a deep loathing for criminals who affect innocent people's lives in this way. It certainly seems that crime is feted by many in this world as an 'honourable' way to do business. I am beginning to think that we are all too soft on crime.

Yesterday, I heard that one of the corrupt soccer referees arrested in Bloemfontein is head of 'Corporate Governance' for the Free State provincial government. A commentator from the ruling political party said that he would not be suspended from this position because of his 'private actions'. Now... if this is true... c,mon.

Let's stop treating criminals with kid gloves... they're laughing at us GOOD guys for being so weak..!

Do The Time - Reward the Crime

Have just returned from a glorious vacation... trout-fishing in the mountains (all the way to the highest pub in Africa).

Returned to see the article mentioned below:

Is it just me... or is there something strangely amiss with the way South Africans seem to perversely 'reward' those who do the time for their crime..? Having played water-polo with the young man mentioned below, I was completely stunned by how a fine young man goes 'bad'. I have no problem with this young man having done his time... and no beef with him as a person. I do have a problem with the concept of a criminal only serving 14 months for a R50 Million fraud. It just doesn't indicate any sense of fair justice to me at all. I just think that he is a VERY LUCKY young man to get off so lightly. And then... corporates are falling over themselves to PAY the guy to tell them what any high-quality, high-integrity, non-criminal-record-tainted speakers are only too willing to impart about high-moral values in life and business. Read the link below.

It's not just this guy, almost everyone who has been to jail in South Africa is feted on radio stations and in the press in South Africa as now having some perverse 'higher moral authority' for serving their time. Witness, to name just a few... Blank, Boesak, Terreblanche, Mbuli... and next will be Jack Milne (mark my words). It is a confusing world innit..? I wonder how the ripped-off millions feel..?

Ex-fraudster lectures on how to stay out of jail - MEGAN POWER
http://www.suntimes.co.za/2004/07/04/news/news23.asp

A CONVICTED fraudster has become an unlikely but sought-after conference speaker.

Former Durban banker, Brad Sadler, sentenced to four years behind bars for fraud and corruption totalling R50-million, is being paid to tell people on the outside, including corporate employees and their wide-eyed bosses why he spent time on the inside.
